UNITE has hosted the very first Monaco Disruptive Technology event, in collaboration with Rockstart Accelerator (www.rockstart.com). The event gathers tech leaders and enthusiasts around a pool of talented entrepreneurs who present their startup project to the audience. The presentations give the young entrepreneurs a platform to test their pitch, answer questions and get advise from more experienced tech leaders.
This year we had 3 great entrepreneur teams showcasing their products and the audience of investors and technology gurus.
The companies were:
Founded in April 2013 by former 3D Systems employees Brian Garret and Bram de Zwart, the site was one of the first global 3D printing solutions. They’ve processed over 30,000 3D prints and have about 7,100 printers in 140 countries. To use the service, you simply choose your area, upload a model, and ask for a quote. The 3D printer owner then prints things out and gets it to you via post or sneaker net. 3D Hubs is currently based in New York and Amsterdam and is a privately held company backed by Balderton Capital and Dutch investors DOEN and Zeeburg.
Founded in 2012 and based in Amsterdam, Owlin extracts actionable intelligence from social media and newswires around the web. In 2012 Owlin was selected out of 356 startups globally to be part of Rockstart’s Accelerator program. Currently Owlin is seed funded and developing custom made tools for financial firms and the government sector.
This year, SyndicatePlus won the competition.
SyndicatePlus was founded at the end of 2010 by Pieter van Herpen (Procter & Gamble). Frustrated about the lack of transparency in the Food & Beverages industry he started collecting product data, which he used to launch a range of popular shopper-guidance apps.
By 2012 SyndicatePlus launched Foodhouse; a B2B product data platform which manufacturers could use to upload and distribute product data. Third party E-commerce and developers could access the growing Foodhouse database to power their own websites and apps.
In March 2013 SyndicatePlus joined the Rockstart Accelerator programme. The 6-month programme helped SyndicatePlus to reinvent itself and become a global exchange platform for rich, trusted product data.
Syndicate Plus is based in Amsterdam (The Netherlands) and is privately-funded.
